1.By Air

Chandigarh has an airport just 11kms away from the City Centre. Indian Airlines connect the city with other major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Jammu, and Amritsar.

Flights to Amritsar

The airport at Amritsar named ‘Raja Sansi International Airport’ offers excellent service. The airport is well connected by other parts of the Country by regular flights. The Raja Sansi International airport at Amritsar is located about 11km from the city centre. Several airlines operate flights from abroad, including Singapore as well as London and Birmingham and Toronto. The airport now handles as many as forty-eight flights every week up from the occasional, intermittent ones some years ago. British airways, Malaysia airlines, Phuket airlines, Singapore airlines, Tajakistan airlines, Uzbek airways and air-India are also lining up to fly here.

There are several flights to Amritsar that operate from various destinations. There are four main airlines namely Turkmenistan Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, Jet Airways and Air India that operate between different cities of United Kingdom and Amritsar. Some of the major cities like London, Toronto, Singapore and Birmingham can be reached very easily from Amritsar. Air India operates non stop flights from Amritsar to Birmingham. The flights of Uzbekistan Airlines connect Amritsar to London and Birmingham via Tashkent. Turkmenistan Airlines provides its passengers flights to Amritsar both from London and Birmingham via Ashgabat.
 

Popular Indian cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Bangalore are directly connected to Amritsar through air.Jet Airways flight number 9W-3322and 9W-912 operates between Amritsar and Kolkata. Jet Airways flight number 9W-3322 and 9W-824 fly between the destinations Amritsar and Chennai. Jet Airways flight number 9W-3322 and 9W-804 connect Amritsar with the garden city of Bangalore. There are frequent flights to Delhi, the capital city of India from Amritsar.

 

2. Road

The city can boast of an excellent road-network. It is also conveniently located within motor-able distance from a number of major cities of North India. National Highways 21 and 22 run through the city. Near perfect road condition and breathtaking views on either side of the road offers a pleasant drive.

Other important State highways and major roads also connect the city to various towns of Punjab. There is vast network of bus service of Punjab, Himachal, Delhi, Haryana, Pepsu, Chandigarh, UP, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan State Roadways, apart from private operators.
 

3. Railways

The rail network serves the city conveniently. Chandigarh Railway Station is about 10kms from the City. Important trains like the Shatabadi Express and the Himalayan Queen the e city on a regular basis.
