Gurudwara Damdama Sahib

Situated approximately 30 kms South of Bathinda at Talwandi Sabo,this famous Gurudwara is one of the five Takhts. Guru Gobind Singh the last Sikh guru dictated the holy book of Sri. Guru Granth Sahib to Bhai Mani Singh at this location approx in years 1705 AD to 1706 AD . A socio -religious fair is held here on the 13th April (Vasakhi) every year

 

Manji Sahib of the Ninth Guru

The ninth Sikh Guru, Teg Bahadur, visited Talwandi Sabo while on his way to Delhi where he was beheaded. At the place, where he is stated to have stayed, exists a gurudwara, known as 'Manji Sahib of the Ninth Guru'. Manji Sahib of the Tenth Guru: - Guru Teg Bahadur had predicted that the tenth Guru would also visit the village. At the place where Guru Gobind Singh is said to have stayed, a gurudwara known as 'Manji Sahib of the Tenth Guru' has been constructed.

 

Takhat Shri Guru Kashi

It is a tall gurudwara where Guru Gobind Singh set up his throne. This shrine is the main centre of attraction for the visitors. Gurudwara Likhan Sar: - It is said that the pens used while writing the Adi Granth, were thrown in a tank by the tenth Guru. Gurudwara Likhan Sar was constructed here later. Scholars and writers pay obeisance to the shrine so that they may be blessed with superior writing power.

 

Gurudwara Jand Sar

It is stated that the tenth Guru's army of Brars demanded arrears of salary from the Guru; threatening to leave him otherwise. The story goes that the Guru asked them to dig a place near a jand tree. They did so and found a treasure-trove lying in the earth. This provided the means for the Guru to pay them their dues. At this place stands Gurudwara Jand Sar.

 

Gurudwara Mata Sahib Kaur and Mata Sundri

The two wives of Guru Gobind Singh, Mata Sahib Kaur and Mata Sundri were separated from him during the Mughal attack near the Sirsa stream. When the Guru settled at Damdama Sahib, he called them back. A gurudwara associated with their names now stands at Damdama Sahib.

 

Gurudwara Ber Sahib Chhaoni Nihangan

This gurudwara is owned by Nihang Sikhs of the Buddha Dal. The tenth Guru is said to have planted a ber tree at this place. Gurudwara Sant Attar Singh: - This gurudwara was got constructed by Sant Attar Singh of Mastuana (district Sangrur) and is named after him.

 

Gurudwara Teg Bahadur

The 9th Guru initiated the digging of a tank at Damdama Sahib and he himself participated in this work. A gurudwara now a stand at this spot is named after him.

 

Gurudwara Mahal Sar

The Tenth Guru used to play Hola Mohalla after the diwans on various gurpurbs and displayed feats of his martial skill. At this place, there is a gurudwara known as Mahal Sar. The Nihangs play Hola Mohalla there on the last day of the Baisakhi festival and display their skills of horse riding and martial art.

 

Maiser Khana

The Maisar Khana mandir 29 km from Bathinda on Bathinda-Mansa Road. According to a legend, the jyoti of Mata Jawala appeared to give darshan to a poor devotee who could not reach durga temple at Jawala Ji.

Every year, Two Melas are held where lacs of devotees come to have Darshan of Jawala ji.

 

Fort Qila Mubark

It is an oldest and highest small brick monument. History of which is quite amazing. Raja Binepal , a Bhatti Rajput built it about 1800 , years ago. The first women emperor Razia Sultana was imprisoned here in 1239 AD by the then Governor Altunia, she jumped from the Summan Burj and later on died at Sirsa fighting with royal forces.
The Tenth Sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh came in this fort in June, 1705 and threw out a Monster Kana Deo and blessed the area with prosperity.
Maharaja Ala Singh of Patiala State caputured this Fort in 1754 and named the Fort Gobindgarh , earlier it was called Bakramgarh.The Gurudwara was constructed by Maharaja Karam Singh of Patiala on the top of the Fort. This is situated in the heart of the city.

Bahia Fort Bahia

This fort was built in 1930 in front of the main Fort by S. Balwant Singh Sidhu belong to a group of 22 villages, so called Bahia Sahib. It was as official residence of armed forces of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala State . Now it has been converted into a Four Star Hotel.

Lakhi Jungle

This is situated 15 Kms away from Bathinda and on the way to Mukatsar. A forest having old Gurudwara enjoyed the touches of Shri Guru Nanak Dev who recited one lakh holy Paths of Shri Japuji Sahib.Therefore it was called Lakhi Jungle. Tenth Sikh Guru , Guru Gobind Singh also visited this place.

Rose Garden This garden boasts of large number of varieties of Roses. It is very near the city and is visited by large number of people on weekends.
The 10 acre garden is located close to Thermal Plant. It has a vast variety of rose plants and is a good picnic spot.


Zoological Park

It is a plant nursery of the forest department located approximately 10 kms away from the Cantonment and is a popular picnic spot. This place is a small zoo in the amidst of small forest . Although started with a gusto this place conditions is as of any government sector organization . This place can be an ideal tourist place , if properly developed.

Chetak Park

A beautiful garden built in Bathinda Cantonment is popular among children's and others. It has a lake and boating facility.
 

Tikana Bhai Jagta Ji (Goniana)
This place is a headquarter of SewaPanthi Sect. This movement was started by Bhai Kanhiya and it is devoted to serving the humanity. This sect aids various schools and colleges in this area.

 

Nanaksar Gurudwara (Roomiwala)
A famous gurudwara of NanakSar Sect , it is visited by large number of people every day esp on Wednesday's

 

Gurudwara Haji Rattan
There is a historic gurudwara known as Gurudwara Haji Rattan named after Haji Rattan, a sadhu who used tomeditate here. It is also associated with the visits of Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Hargobind and Guru Gobind Singh. It is said when Guru Nanak Dev during his first journey (Udasi) visited this place, Haji Rattan hurled a big stone at the Guru to frighten him away. But Guru Nanak Dev picked the same up and hurled it back to Haji Rattan who became unconscious. The Guru brought Guru's pardon and requested him to get him rid of the drudgery of life.
